I can't wrap my head around Lara Glenum. This is a very bad thing, when I have to write a review of her book.

For those of you unfamiliar, you can read her poems here, here, and here.

I'm curious to hear a Dumanis thought on her. Personally, I vote booooooo. It's weird that I'm reading Bill Maher because I think that they have the same problem: they're trying too hard. How am I supposed to digest "the size of die?" There is no meaning in that phrase, and it sounds discordant to my ear. It is (gasp) a bad line. It would be excusable, except it seems like that is what she's going for because such lines exist everywhere in her work. Gene Siskel joins me in giving a thumbs down. Yep, I know he's the dead one, that's how much I dislike it. Inventive, yet still bad.

I actually like her, for the most part. I just don't know how to fully talk about her. The wheels have been turning on it, and they're starting to slow down, so maybe they'll stop in the near future and I'll have some sort of interior edict.
