I thought of that song. A 22 year old man climbed the 8 flights of stairs to the top of one of our parking garages at 4am on Saturday, walked out of the stairwell, over to the wall, stopped just long enough to figure out how to get up the wall, and went over it. I saw the video of him entering the stairwell on the ground floor, and the video of him coming out at the top. What's eerie is that the camera on the roof pans on it's own and it just happened to catch him coming out and it follows him over to the wall, and we see him go over it before the camera moves on, that's how quickly he did it all. I only watched both clips once, but they seem to be burned into my head. The cops don't think he was drunk or high when he did it, either.
Psychologists say that if a depressed person suddenly turns happy, it is because they made the decision to kill themselves and have a newfound confidence in the resolve. I'm guessing that the reason he doesn't hesitate isn't because he's drunk or high (he probably is, a little chemical courage), it's because he's pictured pitching himself off of that garage a hundred times already.
Jim Carrey is referring to Albert Camus' The Myth of Sisyphus (a treatise that begins with that assertion), which, if you guys are getting a good college education, I'm sure you've all read. If not, you should at some point.

"I once read that the only philosophical question that matters, is whether or not to commit suicide... I guess that makes me a philosopher."

Greetings from Cleveland.
Camus. Fantastic. Not that I don't respect/admire the man, I just find him nearly impossible to read (although his prose is beautiful).
How is Ohio, by the way?
